Housing First
We connect voucher-holding individuals to landlords who say YES — navigating CityFHEPS and Section 8 from application to keys in hand. No sobriety requirement. No judgment. Just a path home.
Whole Health Care
On-site medical screenings, mental health support, substance use services, and behavioral health stabilization — because lasting housing begins with healing the whole person.
Financial Empowerment
Financial literacy workshops, credit building, and wealth education so residents don't just get housed — they stay housed and build toward a future they can own.

Saving Homes
Since 2016.
As a Village, we have helped homeowners save their homes since 2016. We support families facing mortgage crisis and deed theft with pro se advocacy on their cases, and we have access to lawyers when needed.
The Dodds Family Story
The Dodds family were — and still are — victims of what we once called gentrification and now call deed theft. In 2016, Ms. Williams was introduced to the family after they were offered pennies on the dollar for their multimillion-dollar home. During the intake assessment, Mrs. Dodds made it clear: she did not want to sell.
Ms. Williams brought the matter to Mr. Brewer and they went to work, filing motions in court to save the property. To create sustainable income for the family, New Era Reliance LLC renovated the building and has placed reliable tenants for the past 10 years. The mortgage has since been paid off — yet for a decade, those trying to take the property have fought the family in and out of court, including attempts to push deed theft through court filings.

NorthernStar Youth Initiative was founded in 2009 by Anthony J. Brewer in Brooklyn, New York — born from a simple belief: that every person experiencing homelessness deserves more than a bed. They deserve a path.
For over 15 years, our track record has been providing housing for voucher applicants through CityFHEPS, SOTA, LINC and DHS contracts — serving homeless adults, formerly incarcerated individuals, young adults ages 18–25, and families across Brooklyn and Queens.
In 2015, we created the Village Headquarters — a brand and a vision. "It takes a village to raise a child." Today that vision has grown into a coalition of four organizations operating as one coordinated system: from emergency intake to permanent housing to financial independence.
We are not just a shelter. We are a pipeline to permanence.

For 15+ years we have placed voucher applicants into housing through CityFHEPS, SOTA, LINC and DHS contracts. The government contracts listed below are proposals we are actively pursuing — they have not been awarded yet.
